The life of a teenager can be joyous, distressful and everything in between. Growing expectations on academic performance, creative interests and personal responsibilities along with the physical, emotional and social changes make this a particularly vulnerable time, even in the most ideal conditions.
Providing a top education while ensuring each student's wellbeing is cared for is important to educators and parents alike. Seeing them not just get by but thrive and realise their full potential is the ultimate reward.
While dealing with the demands of student life, the habits they develop now will be either helpful or harmful in the present and in the future. With 77% of young people having one or more chronic conditions and around one in seven having a mental health condition*, it's fair to say our young people need help navigating this time in a positive way.
Gifting teens with the tools to exercise their bodies in a compassionate and non-competitive way, manage stress, relax mindfully and make a positive contribution, will not only reap benefits today but will set foundations for healthy choices that will positively impact them and society in the future.
My experiential program, Integrative Wellbeing Skills For Teens aims to do just that. Based on principles and practices that have formed the foundation of my own life for the past thirty years and that I've been sharing for the past five, this course empowers students to manage their own health and wellbeing.
Students will learn how to:
Engage in energising and restorative movement that is inclusive, adaptable and targets the specific physical needs of this age group
Cultivate mental clarity, focus & positive mindset
Find self-assuredness, belonging & purpose
This program supports the NSW Wellbeing Framework for Schools and can be integrated into your PDHPE or pastoral care timetable. Sessions are delivered weekly during school term.

Hi, my name is Irene.
Yoga has been a foundation of my own life for three decades, helping to keep me strong, healthy and vibrant, so that I can live well and make a positive contribution in the world. When I think back to my younger self, the insecurities, self-doubt and the ways I compensated for what I saw as my shortcomings, I wonder what a difference it would have made, had I been introduced to yoga at an earlier age.
Teaching yogic principles and practices to students across age groups and varying abilities since 2021, has enhanced my capacity to adapt the practices to match the needs of my students. As a yoga teacher, my overall aim is to help people find awareness of how they move and interact with the world and find steadiness and ease, both on and off the mat.
